Activities Check-in

8 am–8:30 am: Pre-event check in at the Center for Excellence in Social Work Table
9 am–9:30 am: Main event check in at the Center for Excellence in Social Work Table
*You will be asked to sign a photo release at check-in.

During check-in you will be assigned a group and meet your SANA Day (group) Leader. The Center's table will be available from 9:30 am–12:30 pm for any late arrivals and questions. If you are separated from your group, please return to the table.

Activities at the Legislature

[Pre-event] 8:30 am onwards • Attend the Health & Human Services Committee meeting or visit another morning committee meeting.

9 am–9:30 am • Find the Center for Excellence in Social Work table
-Check-in
-Receive your SANA Day swag (for the first 75 attendees that check-in)!
-Meet your SANA Day Leader and group members

9 am–12 pm • Attend the Behavioral Health Day Press Conference in the Rotunda
-Learn about the STAR award recipients and those who are being recognized for their contributions to NM Behavioral Health.

9:30 am–10:30 am • Get to know your group members (& paperwork completion)!
-Share your name, pronouns, degree program and university
-What are your policy or legislative interests?
-What are your advocacy plans or actions you’ve taken this legislative session?
-Why did you choose to attend SANA Day?

9:30 am onwards • Go down to the basement (level 1) and pick up a printed calendar for the day.

10 am–12 pm • Visit the Behavioral Health Planning Council’s Behavioral Health Day tables
-Learn about NM-based Behavioral Health organizations, non-profits and agencies.

House Convenes at 10:30 am & Senate Convenes at 11 am • Visit the Senate and House of Representatives Chambers
-These will be on the ground level.

In the morning • View the Art Collection
The Governor’s Gallery is located on the fourth floor (near the East elevator/stairs), just outside the governor’s offices.
It’s all around you and in the walkway that leads to the Annex, the Capitol North building. To access this, walk down the West Stairs to Level 1 (the basement). Exit and walk across the parking garage to the glass doors (you will be able to see these from the exit).

In the morning • Visit the Office of a Representative or Senator
-Locate your legislators
-Search for legislation
-Stop by your legislator's office and introduce yourself
-Is there legislation they have are sponsoring that you are in favor of or against? Let them know your thoughts.
-Is there an issue that needs to be addressed? Let them know what it is and steps they can take to support meaningful change.

GET READY FOR THE AFTERNOON (Lunch & SANA Day Speakers)

12:45 pm van loading (for NMHU Students and NMHU Faculty/Staff Only) from the East or West Entrances • at 1 pm, independent or NMHU van transportation to the afternoon location: SFCC Higher Education Center at 1950 Siringo Rd, Santa Fe, NM 87505 for lunch and to hear from our SANA Day Speakers.
